Jessica Alexander, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Jessica was born and raised in Livermore. She left northern California to get her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Whitworth University in Washington state and then her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Chapman University in southern California. Jessica worked at a pediatric clinic for over 6 years in Orange County and now she’s back home in Livermore! Jessica is a board certified pediatric physical therapist (one of about 2,000 in the US). She has experience working with children of all ages and a large variety of diagnoses. When Jessica is not having fun and working hard with the kids at work, she can be found on the dance floor showing off her vintage swing dance moves.

Virtu Arora, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Virtu graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy from AT Still University/ Arizona School of Health Sciences. She has been a physical therapist since 1996. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist since 2006 and is a Lymphology Board of North America (LANA) certified therapist. She has completed the STAR certification in Oncology and Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) training from Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN®). Virtu has presented research posters on Lymphedema at many conferences including International Lymphedema Framework, National lymphedema Network, California PT association (CPTA), World Conference of Lymphology, International Kinesiotaping Research Symposium. She is current Faculty and Medical Advisor of Academy of Lymphatic Studies. She is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) from Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars since 2006, and a Certified Kinesiotaping Instructor (CKTI). She is a member of the APTA, CPTA, ILF, oncology section of APTA and has served as a CPTA research council member. She is a credentialed clinical instructor (CCI) and a Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) instructor. She loves the field of physical therapy – a healing profession. She is fluent in English, Hindi & Punjabi.

Kaitlin Bindert, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Kaitlin earned a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences from Northeastern University then went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She has been a part of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley's team since 2019. She enjoys treating patients with neurological conditions as well as pediatric sports injuries and acts as one of the instructors for the clinic's injury prevention and return to sports class. Outside of the clinic she enjoys spending time outdoors and with her family.

Berrin Boyce, PT, DPT

Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health Physical Therapy

BIOGRAPHY

Berrin has been practicing physical therapy since 2016, after earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She started specializing in pelvic health at the very beginning of her career, when she discovered her passion for empowering people through pelvic floor rehabilitation. Berrin is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health and has her Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification. In addition to treating a variety of pelvic health conditions, she enjoys working with people who experience persistent pain and has her Therapeutic Pain Specialist Certification. Berrin grew up in the East Bay and enjoys running and hiking all around the Bay Area.

Benjamin Boyd, PT, DPTSc

BIOGRAPHY

Ben graduated from the joint program at the University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco State University (UCSF/SFSU) with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2002, returning in 2008 to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy Science degree. He received certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association in 2008. Ben teaches in the entry-level Physical Therapy program at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California and teaches continuing education courses internationally for rehabilitation professionals through the Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI). He has been researching and teaching about nerve and musculoskeletal injuries since 2004 with a particular interest in understanding and treating pain. His clinical focus is on helping people who are suffering with ongoing, persistent pain. Ben is an advocate of a holistic, biopsychosocial approach for helping those suffering from ongoing pain. He is also interested in how we as individuals construct our own understandings about pain and how that influences our own experiences. Ben grew up in the East Bay and continues to enjoy the rich diversity of cultures, foods, events, and outdoor recreational activities that the Bay Area has to offer.

Judy Cai, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Judy received her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from University of Southern California in 2015 after earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology (BS) from California State University, Northridge in 2011. She is certified in LSVT BIG, Lymphedema Management (Leduc Method I), and has also taken continuing education courses in Kinesiology Taping and Instrument Assisted STM. In 2021, she completed her lymphedema training through Academy of Lymphatic Studies and passed her LANA exam to be CLT-LANA certified specialist. She has worked with different age groups in the orthopedic and neurologic settings, both in outpatient (primary) and inpatient. In addition, she has helped mentor PT students and has been a Credentialed Clinical Instructor since 2019. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family, going on bike rides, hiking, and traveling. She is also passionate and adventurous with food and enjoys trying out new recipes with her friends.

Josie Chan, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Josie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health science with a concentration in gerontology from San Jose State University and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Fresno State University. She has experience leading exercise classes and educating Parkinson’s disease support groups, as well as presenting her research on Parkinson’s disease at the California Physical Therapy Association’s annual conference. Josie’s interest in physical therapy stems from her health journey, and she developed a passion for pelvic health during a clinical experience at Stanford Health Care's Pelvic Health Center, where she worked alongside surgeons. Her focus at Stanford Healthcare Tri-Valley includes treating pelvic health conditions and providing gender-affirming care.

Outside of her work, Josie is involved in advocacy work for community health, including presentations on pelvic health and raising awareness for adults with congenital heart disease. Some of her hobbies are exploring different cultures through food, hiking, and recreational barebow archery.

Julie Espinosa, PT, DPT

Board Certified Oncologic Clinical Specialist

BIOGRAPHY

Julie is a Bay Area native. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin, where she also played Division I soccer. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 2012. She has been a physical therapist at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley since 2015. Julie has experience in orthopedics and neurological conditions, but her main passion and focus is in oncology and lymphedema. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and is a Lymphology Board of North America (LANA) certified lymphedema therapist. She has received her STAR Oncology Certification, has training in Medical Therapeutic Yoga, and is certified in LSVT BIG for Parkinson’s disease. She enjoys providing a healing hand to patients recovering or going through cancer treatments. In her free time, Julie loves spending time with her family, hiking, doing yoga, playing guitar, and exploring outdoor activities in the Bay Area.

Michelle Ganiban, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Biology from UC Davis then went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt University. She has been at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley since her final internship in 2012. Her interest in physical therapy grew through personal athletic experiences and injuries as a soccer player, which is why she enjoys working with athletes and weekend warriors. She is involved with several of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley's sports programs including the Return to Sport and Injury Prevention Class, running analyses and kinesiotape analyses. Outside of work you can find Michelle on the soccer field, running on the Iron Horse trail or rooting on the Giants at AT&T Park.

Eric Garcia, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Eric received his Bachelor of Science in Community Health: Rehabilitation Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He then went on to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in 2016. Since graduation, Eric has worked in the outpatient orthopedic setting treating a variety of orthopedic injuries, musculoskeletal dysfunctions, and post-operative diagnoses; even taking on Physical Therapy students to aide in their professional development. Eric tries to find a common interest with all his patients as a means to build rapport and assist them achieving their therapy goals through individually tailored treatment plans. When Eric is not treating patients, he is likely out exploring the Bay Area with his family or watching local sports - while not so quietly rooting for his Chicagoland teams.

Jessica was born and raised in the Bay Area. She attended UC Davis and earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Biology in 2007. She attained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree at Samuel Merritt University, graduating with honors. She has been a physical therapist at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley since 2011. She treats adults and pediatric patients of all genders in pelvic health and has the Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC). Additionally, Jessica is passionate about cancer rehabilitation. She became STAR Certified in Oncology Rehabilitation and is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family, which includes two young children and two dogs.

Lauren Jaeger, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Lauren received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Southern California after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of California - Santa Barbara. Lauren knew from the early age of thirteen that she wanted to pursue a career in physical therapy. She sustained a knee injury while playing competitive soccer and became a patient of physical therapy herself. She believes that excellent care incorporates individualized treatment with an emphasis on patient education and open communication. Lauren strives to provide comprehensive care to each patient in order to achieve positive functional outcomes. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys being in the sun exercising, reading, and spending time with her husband and son.

Raphael Joson, PT

BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Manila, Philippines, Raphael received his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy in 1996 from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila. He has years of clinical experience in different settings and specialties of Rehabilitation Medicine like Orthopedics, sports, Neurology, Amputations, and Geriatrics. Raphael focuses on a personalized treatment plan for all his patients to regain full function and improve their quality of life. Outside of PT, Raphael is also a part-time professional musician. 

Stacey L. Kegg, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Stacey was born and raised in the Bay Area. She attended Cal State East Bay where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in public relations and organizational communication in 2008. She then went on to earn her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy at Midwestern University in 2016. Stacey has experience working with all age groups and a background in pain management. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Allison Kemsley, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Allison received her bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from Chapman University in 2013 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Mount St. Mary's University in 2017. She then went on to complete an Orthopedic Residency program at Healthcare Partners Physical Therapy in 2018. Since beginning her clinical career, Allison has focused on continued training in orthopedics with a focus on movement science and applying developmental kinesiology principles to her practice. In 2019, Allison became a Board-Certified Clinic Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. In addition, Allison is a certified mat and reformer Pilates instructor and incorporates Pilates concepts into her practice. Allison grew up in Pleasanton as a high-level competitive gymnast going to physical therapy at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley LifestyleRx. Outside of the clinic, you can find Allison with her husband and two dogs hiking, camping or spending time with extended family.

Hanna (Anna) Klyushnik, PT, DPT

Originally from Siberia, Russia, Hanna made Bay Area her second home in 2008.  Hanna earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Samuel Merritt University, graduating at the top of her class with the University’s award for academic excellence. Since then, she has enjoyed serving her community as a physical therapist at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley. Hanna has been in the health and wellness industry for over 10 years. In addition to being a physical therapist, Hanna is an accomplished yoga teacher. Her passion is to combine modern science with traditional holistic approaches to healing. Hanna has experience treating patients with orthopedic and neurologic conditions, as well as pelvic health dysfunctions. In her free time, Hanna enjoys exploring the outdoors, cooking healthy plant-based meals and doing yoga.

Carie Kramer, PT, MSPT

BIOGRAPHY

Carie received her Master's of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of the Pacific in 1999. She has been with the Physical and Sports Medicine Department at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley for 20 years. Carie enjoys working with a variety of patients including orthopedic and vestibular/concussion conditions. Her goal is to provide individual treatment plans for her patients and focus on function. She is certified in Pilates mat and reformer, and is also STAR certified. Carie grew up in Pleasanton, played softball and is a board member for the Pleasanton Girl's Softball League and Athletic Booster's for the high school. She enjoys working in the community she grew up in and spending time with her husband and children.

Teresa Heller, PT, DPT

Teresa was born at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley and raised in the Bay Area. She received her bachelor's degree in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley in 2010, where she played Division I lacrosse. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of the Pacific in 2016. She has been a part of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley's team since 2016. Since beginning her clinical career, Teresa has focused her continued training in orthopedics and, in 2020, became a Board-Certified Clinic Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS). She is involved with several Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley's programs and performs running and throwing analyses. Outside of work, Teresa can be found hiking with her husband and running, biking, or swimming.

Shelby McGinnis, PT, MPT

BIOGRAPHY

Shelby earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from UC Davis and received her Master of Physical Therapy at Samuel Merritt University (MPT) in 2003. She has practiced in a variety of settings since, including acute care and community wellness, but primarily in the outpatient setting. She has been with Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley since 2005. Her passion and a great need in the community led her to specialize in vestibular and concussion rehabilitation, developing these specialty programs for the organization. The team of highly trained therapists she leads now treats a wide range of diagnoses and sees patients from throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Shelby also runs the Concussion Base Line testing program and the Balance and Fall Prevention exercise class, and is active in the community, presenting balance, vestibular, and concussion education in a variety of settings. In addition, Shelby acts as supervisor for the outpatient therapy clinics, and is proud of the excellent care provided across clinics and disciplines. Outside of the clinic she enjoys time with her family, barre class, and a good book.

Elena Meehan, PT, MPT

BIOGRAPHY

Elena received her master's degree in Physical Therapy from the University of the Pacific. She specializes in treating the pediatric population; working with preemies to adolescents with various neurologic and orthopedic diagnoses. Whether treating an adult or child, Elena tailors her programs to meet the needs of her patients and their families to optimize function beyond the clinic walls.

Katie Mockler Fish, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Katie was born and raised in the Bay Area. After receiving a bachelor's degree in biology from Sonoma State University in 2007, she then decided to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. In 2010 she earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of the Pacific. After graduating, Katie traveled throughout Southeast Asia before taking her board exams in 2011. Once she became a licensed physical therapist she took a job at Tri-Valley and has been working for Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley ever since. Katie helped to expand the vestibular and concussion programs at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley. When Katie is not working she enjoys doing yoga, traveling, and spending time with her family and children.

Emily Moore, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Emily received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from University of the Pacific in 2010. Her clinical interests include treatment of postural dysfunction, returning people of all ages to their active lifestyle, cervical/lumbar radiculopathy and shoulder stiffness/pain. Emily prides herself in considering an individual's lifestyle and physical interests (cooking/walking/sports) when developing a plan of care.

Emily has taken continuing education classes in the treatment of sciatica, cervical and shoulder movement dysfunction, mobilization with movement and functional movement screening. Outside of the clinic, some of her favorite activities include hiking with her husband, two young sons, and two energetic dogs as well as strength training, reading and practicing overall fitness.

Sonali Patel, PT, DPT

Sonali received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She has both orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation experience, treating a wide variety of conditions. She is passionate about building patient-client connections to help individuals achieve their goals with an active lifestyle. When Sonali is not in the clinic, she enjoys hiking around Bay Area trails and traveling to new places with her family and friends.

Kelton Retherford, PT, DPT

Kelton earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara, where he worked in a team researching motivation and positive psychology for four years. He went on to earn his doctorate in physical therapy from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California. Kelton has been a lifelong mover and teacher of movement, specializing in circus / performing arts, acrobatics, and martial arts. Kelton enjoys working with various diagnoses and backgrounds and connecting with patients in other languages.

Eileen Shaw, PT, DPT

Eileen received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she graduated with University Honors. She then went on to earn her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2015. Eileen treats a wide variety of orthopedic conditions and has been a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) since 2019. In addition, she has taken extensive continuing education coursework in physical therapy management of vestibular disorders and post concussion symptoms. Outside of work, Eileen enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Brianne Spencer, PT, DPT

BIOGRAPHY

Brianne is a licensed physical therapist born and raised in the Bay Area. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Minor in Gerontology from Sonoma State University in 2010 before earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Samuel Merritt University in 2013. She began her PT career in the Tri-Valley in an outpatient, orthopedic setting in 2013.  She later joined the Stanford Health Care – Tri-Valley team in August 2022.  Brianne is passionate about using evidence-based practice and her clinical knowledge to provide patient care successfully and effectively.  She uses her knowledge of various conditions to develop and implement personalized, rehabilitative care plans and establish individualized therapeutic goals for each patient. She enjoys assisting each patient in returning to their everyday, productive, healthy lifestyles. When Brianne is not in the clinic, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, walking and hiking, reading a good book, and is active in reformer Pilates.

Jill Tai, PT

BIOGRAPHY

Jill was born and raised in Southern California and moved to the Bay Area after graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from California State University Long Beach. She has enjoyed her diverse experiences working with neurological, general medicine, and geriatric populations in the Acute Care Acute Rehabilitation, and Skilled Nursing settings. She is currently pursuing her passion and working in the outpatient specialty care for Pelvic Health physical therapy. Outside of work she enjoys hiking with friends, baking, spending time with her family, gardening and reducing her carbon footprint.

Michael Tai, PT, MPT

BIOGRAPHY

Mike was born and raised in San Francisco. He completed his undergraduate work at UCLA and his Master of Physical Therapy Degree from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1995. He has over 25 years of experience as a physical therapist in the outpatient and skilled nursing settings and has been with Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley since 2003. He is a certified clinical instructor, has taught over 15 students, and has taken over 25 continuing education courses over the course of his career. Among his colleagues, he is known as "The Professor" due to his vast knowledge in the field and ability to mentor peers. He uses his knowledge to consider the entire body as a whole to determine the best treatment approach. In his spare time Mike enjoys spending time with his wife who is also a physical therapist at Tri-Valley, their two sons, his extended family including seven siblings, and doing his part to save the environment.

Mike Freeman, PTA

BIOGRAPHY

Mike is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and De Anza college. He has been a licensed physical therapist assistant (PTA) since 1997. Mike grew up in the Tri-Valley and has served the community as part of the rehabilitation team at Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley for over 20 years.

Cole Kraft, PTA

BIOGRAPHY

Cole received his Physical Therapist Associates degree from Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts in 2022, graduating with high honors from his Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program. He received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology: Movement Studies from Chico State in 2018. He has always been passionate about helping others and has experience with many rehab settings, including inpatient and outpatient populations. Cole was raised in Livermore and enjoys hiking, camping, snowboarding, and almost any sport. He is always looking for a new adventure to challenge himself in and out of the clinic.

Sandra Tom, PTA

BIOGRAPHY

Sandra has worked as a PTA since graduating from Ohlone College in 2004. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Cal State University, Hayward. She is currently studying to obtain her certification in lower extremity lymphedema. Sandra enjoys seeing patients of all ages and different diagnoses. When away from work Sandra enjoys spending time with her family and trying out new recipes.

Binh Tran, PTA

BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in San Jose, Binh completed his undergraduate degree from the University of California San Diego. He has been a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) since graduating with highest honors from Ohlone College in 2019. He has experience working with a variety of patient populations ranging in age and diagnosis including neurologic, orthopedic and sports medicine related conditions. Binh achieves the most success with his patients by utilizing a patient-centered approach that includes patient education, manual therapy and individualized therapeutic exercise planning.  He strives to help every patient achieve their functional goals and improve their quality of life.

When not in the clinic, Binh enjoys fitness, playing sports such as basketball, golf, snowboarding and spending time with his wife and his puppy.

Adrian Villaneuva, PTA

BIOGRAPHY

Adrian received his Physical Therapist Associate degree from Ohlone College in 2010. His experience includes different manual therapy techniques and progressing therapeutic exercises. He believes patient education is a critical aspect of one's recovery and positively encourages everyone's potential. Adrian enjoys outrigger canoeing and cycling in his spare time. He grew up locally in San Ramon and continues to live in the Tri-Valley area with his wife, two kids and his Labrador pup, Truckee.
